About Us
To promote translation
teaching, research, and practice, the College of Foreign Languages and
Literature at National Chengchi University (NCCU) began planning the Center
for Translation and Cross-cultural Studies (hereinafter referred to as
"the Center") in June 2002. It was officially established in December
of the same year (see Establishment Regulations). The Center is led by a
Director and is governed by a Planning Committee.
Initially, to align with
the university’s objectives of "Englishization of Administration" and
"Digitization and Englishization of Academic Journals," the Center
focused on assisting administrative and academic units with the English translation
of documents. The goal of administrative Englishization is to implement
bilingual practices within administrative units, thereby building an
internationalized administrative environment at NCCU. Meanwhile, the
Englishization and digitization of journals aim to enhance the international
academic competitiveness of the university's publications and to develop a
proprietary journal database.
In recent years, to elevate
the Center’s academic standing, in addition to handling commissioned
translation projects, our staff has actively organized various lectures,
forums, and international academic conferences. Looking ahead, while continuing
to provide professional translation services to the university, the Center
seeks to encourage more international experts and scholars to join NCCU. By
doing so, we aim to foster academic exchange, increase academic influence, and raise the university's profile on the global
stage.
