The inaugural issue of Guang Yi: Lingual, Literary, and Cultural Translation was released in January 2008. No. 1 through 3 were published annually. Beginning with No. 4 and continuing through No. 12, the journal collaborated with the Institute for International Translation Studies, School of Foreign Studies at Nanjing University (NJU), transitioning to a biannual publication schedule: NJU was responsible for the March volume, and NCCU was responsible for the September volume. No. 14 and 15 were published in collaboration with the Institute of Translation Studies at Henan University in China. This collaboration officially ended in 2018.


Founding Editor-in-Chief Professor Chang Shang-Kuan (Department of English) defined
Guang Yi as a shared academic platform, aspiring to inject new vitality into translation studies in Taiwan. No. 11 and 12 were edited by Professor Ku Meng-Hsuan (Department of European Languages and Cultures). Associate Professor Yen Ting-Chia (Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures) took over as Editor-in-Chief starting with No. 13, followed by Professor Hsu An-Nie (Department of European Languages and Cultures) for No. 16, Associate Professor Yeh Ping-Chieh (Department of Japanese) for No. 17, and Associate Professor Lin Yu-Yi (Department of Korean Language and Culture) for No. 18.  The journal is currently led by Assitant Professor Hsiung Tao-Tien (Department of Turkish Language and Culture), who continues to cultivate translation research both domestically and internationally.

In addition to the journal, the Center has also published special issues of Translation and the issue titled
Diaspora Literature and Overseas Writers.
